Zip Saved Me From an Insulin Reaction

"Thank God for Zip..."
My 2-year-old toy poodle, Zip, saved my life when he was only 7 months old. I have been a diabetic for 28 years. The day before this happened was Memorial Day. My brother brought his girls over to swim in our pool and eat boiled shrimp with all the fixins.
Well, I had too much fun and apparently I didn’t eat enough. I was not hungry so I didn’t even eat a little snack before I went to bed.
Around 2 a.m., Zip, who sleeps between my husband, Peter, and me in bed, woke Peter up whining and scratching his face. Peter asked him what was wrong. Immediately, Zip jumped over to me and started whining. Peter reached over and tried in vain to wake me; he knew immediately what was wrong. I was having an insulin reaction. He called 911.
When the ambulance got to the house and tested my sugar, it was only 31, way too low. The normal blood sugar is 80-120.
During the whole ordeal, Zip stayed on my left shoulder. My Granny would take him off the bed and he would jump right back on the bed in the same place.
I knew when Zip started fetching at only 7 weeks old that we had something special, but I didn’t know how special until this happened. Zip has alerted me about 6 times since that day, every time I have tested, and my sugar has been around 50.
I thank God every day for this wonderful little dog.

A paternal dog has adopted an abandoned baby goat as his surrogate child. Billy the boxer has become the constant companion of the 12-day old kid called Lilly. He sleeps with the goat, licks her clean, and protects her from any dangers at Pennywell Farm wildlife centre at Buckfastleigh, near Totnes, Devon.

Hi faithful blog readers,
I received an email today with the following information about a shelter in Indiana that will be closing in June. Any dogs that do not have a home will be euthanized. Please talk to all of your friends, relatives, co-workers or just random people on the street about this and let's find some homes! I am lucky enough to have 4 dogs that let me live with them and I can't imagine life any other way. (There are many days that I like the dogs more than most people)

Well, here we go again...more babies need our help!

is a home for each of these sweet dogs, but their time is limited only because the shelter in Marion IN is going to be
shut down.

We are their only hope in finding homes and not living out the rest of their days on death row.
This is no small feat, don't get me wrong, and yet it is not an impossibility. Heck, you just might know someone at work
